Hello Ward 7 Neighbours!

I am running for Councillor in Ward 7, where I live with my husband Bill. We were both born and raised in Cambridge and it’s where we raised our two lovely daughters. We are also proud grandparents of two wonderful granddaughters.

connie cody family There are significant challenges facing our city. I am willing to work tirelessly for you and stand up for what matters.

I will conduct myself with the utmost integrity, be accountable, and carry forward principles that will help build a safe and sustainable community.

Being elected as Councillor for Ward 7 will give me the opportunity to not only listen to the voices in our ward, but to have your voices heard at council. As I live in ward 7, what matters to you, matters to me.

Experience Matters

I am currently a volunteer member of the Cambridge Environmental Committee, the East Boundary Road Sub-Committee, the Climate Change Sub-Committee, and the Cambridge Taxpayers Support Group. I have enjoyed my six years as a volunteer at Holy Spirit School, helping younger children with their reading and writing skills.

My volunteer experience with the Cambridge Taxpayers Support Group has afforded me a greater understanding of the budget process to better serve and respect the needs of Cambridge taxpayers.

I advocate for affordable housing solutions as well as continue to work alongside the Ontario Landlords Watch as a volunteer member to help build stronger relationships between tenants and landlords.

“I love getting to meet new people, hear new ideas and work together on common goals. So much can be learned when we listen to others. So much can be accomplished when we work together.”

I have been politically aware and actively engaged within the community on numerous municipal policies, projects and initiatives, including:

  • The Planning Act
  • The City Official Plan
  • The Municipal Act
  • The Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe
  • The City of Cambridge Policies
  • The Municipal Engineers Association
  • The Clean Water Act & Water Resources Act
  • The Greenbelt Act & Plan
These initiatives have helped me to gain extensive knowledge of provincial and municipal policies and procedures.

“Voting for a knowledgeable, experienced candidate can bring about the change so many of you believe is needed in Cambridge, the change that many in this city are asking for and to bring forward fresh new ideas spoken by the voices within our community.”

My background in project management, finance and computer systems administration will bring the experience, the strategic thinking abilities and a strong diverse skill set that will be of benefit in the role of Ward 7 Councillor.

In the role of Councillor, I will fulfill my duty to consider the welfare and interests of the municipality as a whole and to bring to the attention of Council, anything to address your concerns and promote the best interests of the community. I believe that being a Councillor is all about working for you, recognizing people before politics.

For a Ward 7 Councillor that will represent you and hit the ground running, vote for me, Connie Cody.
