About Connie
Connie Cody was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario and is proud to call it home. Her parents immigrated to Canada as teenagers, settling in Cambridge where they met and raised their family. The same city where her husband Bill was born, and where they nurtured their two remarkable daughters. With pride, they now embrace the role of grandparents to five beautiful granddaughters. Growing up, Connie proudly represented our city in both swimming with Aquajets, and skating for the “Galt” Figure Skating Club.
Given her deep roots in Cambridge, Connie recognizes the wonderful benefits of living here, but also the challenges we face. She is passionate about promoting policies that uplift all citizens, particularly those struggling with basic needs and housing. Rising crime rates have eroded the sense of safety in our streets, and Connie firmly believes in holding those responsible for crime accountable to restore community safety. Protecting the cherished values of freedom of speech is another cause Connie stands firm on.
As a results-oriented professional, Connie has showcased her leadership skills throughout a successful career, specializing in business management, accounting, and systems applications development. Her diverse background in operations, project and communications management, in both the public and private sectors, has led to innovative strategies. This includes establishing comprehensive training programs, reporting systems, policy development, large-scale project management, and effective communication both internally and in the public arena. Her interactions with governments at all levels and involvement in the health and housing industries have fostered a growing interest in politics.
Connie firmly believes that public service is a profound responsibility. Her dedication, combined with extensive community involvement, uniquely positions her to amplify the voices of Cambridge residents in Ottawa. With a powerful voice, she is determined to champion the needs and aspirations of her riding, ensuring a prosperous future for our beautiful community.
Connie's impact as a volunteer is far-reaching. She served as Vice Chair on the City of Cambridge Environmental Advisory Committee, preserving the city's natural beauty for future generations. Active contributions to the City of Cambridge Accessibility Advisory Committee strive to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all residents. Her dedication to fiscal responsibility is exemplified through membership in the Cambridge Taxpayers Support Group, who advocates for prudent financial management.
Connie also serves as the Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, supporting veterans and their families and fostering a spirit of gratitude within her community. Her volunteer role as a Grant Team Member of the Ontario Trillium Foundation highlights her dedication to securing funding for initiatives that enrich the lives of Cambridge residents.
Connie's passion for empowering youth is evident through her years as a volunteer at a local school, assisting children in literacy, and her role as a Director of Kiwanis Cambridge, nurturing future leaders. She also advocates for the safety and protection of vulnerable individuals as a volunteer for Action Against Sexual Exploitation of Children.
In Connie, Cambridge has a tireless advocate and compassionate leader, making her an exceptional candidate to represent the residents and secure a brighter future for the community in which we all live, work and play. At this time when our community needs leadership and unification, Connie is here to represent your voice, for our home.
